Kamen Rider OOO ~Official Board~

Kamen Rider OOO (仮面ライダーＯＯＯ（オーズ）, Kamen Raidā Ōzu^?) will be the twelfth series in the Heisei period run of the Kamen Rider Series, and the twenty-first overall. It is scheduled to begin airing on September 5, 2010, the week following the conclusion of Kamen Rider Double,^[1] when it will join Tensou Sentai Goseiger in the Super Hero Time lineup. The series' titular Kamen Rider will have a cameo appearance in the film Kamen Rider Double Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate.

Production

OOO will be written by Yasuko Kobayashi, known for the screenplays of Kamen Rider Ryuki, Den-O, and several Super Sentai Series. The creature designers are Yutaka Izubuchi, known for his work on the Lords in Kamen Rider Agito, and Tamotsu Shinohara, known for his work on the Mirror Monsters of Ryuki and the Orphnoch of Kamen Rider 555.^[1] Unlike several previous Heisei Rider Series, no alternate name has been given yet for the three O's in the title (Ｗ（ダ ブル） read as "Double" and 555（ファイズ） read as "Φ's/Phi's/Faiz") aside from the name of the main Kamen Rider: Ooz.^[2] Both "OOO" and "Ooz" are intended to be read as "O's", referring to the multiple uses of the letter O in the title as well as "multiple kings" (王ｓ, Ōzu^?). The title OOO signifies the three medals that the main Kamen Rider uses to transform.

Story

Eiji Hino (portrayed by Shu Watanabe)^[3] is a man who has no dreams, no job, and no family. When animal-like monsters called Greed awaken after their 800 year slumber to attack humans and feed off of their desire, a bird-type Greed called Ankh gives Eiji a belt and three Medals (メダル, Medaru^?) to fight the Greed so he can become the predestined Multi King (複数の王, Fukusū no Ō^?). This allows Eiji to become Kamen Rider Ooz (仮面ライダーオー ズ, Kamen Raidā Ōzu^?). The mysterious Kogami Foundation approaches him and begins assisting him in his fight against the Greed, but their true motives are not clear. When Eiji fights for the first time, he starts to realize what it means "to be alive".^[1]

Kamen Rider Ooz

With three animal-themed O Medals (オーメダル, Ō Medaru^?) in his Ooz Driver (オーズドライバー, Ōzu Doraibā^?) belt, equipped with the O-Scanner (オースキャナー, Ō Sukyanā^?), Ooz can assume multiple forms called Combos (コンボ, Konbo^?). The first Combo shown is Tatoba (タトバ^?), with his head having hawk (タカ, taka^?) themed powers with use of the Medajalibur (メダジャリバー, Medajaribā^?) sword, his upperbody having tiger (トラ, tora^?) themed powers in using the Tora Claw (トラクロー, Tora Kurō^?) gauntlets to slash at an opponent, and his legs having grasshopper (バッタ, batta^?) themed powers to execute a Rider Kick.^[4]

Other O Medals include the lion (ライオン, raion^?), cheetah (チーター, chītā^?), stag beetle (クワガタ, kuwagata^?), mantis (カマキリ, kamakiri^?), rhinocerous (サイ, sai^?), gorilla (ゴリラ, gorira^?) and elephant (ゾウ, zō^?).^[5] The Combos accessed through all of the O Medals include Takakiriba (タカキリバ^?), Takatorartah (タカトラーター, Takatorātā^?),^[6] Takakireetah (タカキリーター, Takakirītā^?), Lakiriba (ラキリバ, Rakiriba^?), Gatatorartah (ガタトラーター, Gatatorātā^?), Latoraba (ラトラバ, Ratoraba^?), Gatatoraba (ガタトラバ^?), Lakireetah (ラキリーター, RaKirīTā^?), Gatakireetah (ガタキリーター, Gatakirītā^?),^[7] Lagoriba (ラゴリバ, Ragoriba^?),^[8] and Gatatorazo (ガタトラゾ^?).^[9] In an issue of Otona Fami states that Ooz will have a sea-based Combo.

Ooz's personal motorcycle is called the Ride Vendor (ライドベンダー, Raido Bendā^?), which turns into a vending machine that contains small support robots called Candroids (カンドロイド, Kandoroido^?), accessed by inserting a Medal into the vending machine.

Greed & Yummy

The leading villains are called the Greed (グリード, Gurīdo^?), monsters who awakened from their 800 year slumber. They are able to create monsters from normal humans called the Yummy (ヤミー, Yamī^?, from "Mummy"). Each Greed and Yummy is missing a portion of their body. If they consume enough human desire, their body is regrown and they get a Medal and a new ability. With enough Medals, the Greed can complete their bodies with one of them becoming the Multi King. When Ooz defeats a Yummy or Greed, he gains their Medals and gains new abilities as well. Each member represents an animal group and the head-based Core O Medals: the hawk Greed Ankh (アンク, Anku^?), the stag beetle Greed Uva (ウヴァ^?), the lion Greed Kazari (カザリ^?), the rhinoceros Greed Gameru (ガメル^?), and the aquatic animal Greed Mezūru (メズール^?).^[7] The Yummy under each Greed are modeled after an animal similar to their respective creators and possess a Core O Medal. Unlike his associates, and unable to reform more than a forearm, Ankh chooses Eiji to become Kamen Rider Ooz and represent him in his own plan to become the Multi-King.

A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate

The character of Eiji Hino (portrayed by Watanabe) and Kamen Rider Ooz make their debut appearance in Kamen Rider Double's second film Kamen Rider Double Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate.

Movie War 2011

After the end credits of Double Forever, a short teaser featuring Kamen Rider Double and Kamen Rider Ooz states that there will be a crossover film featuring both series' characters, much like Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Double & Decade: Movie War 2010. It is tentatively titled Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider OOO & Double: Movie War 2011 (仮面ライダー×仮面ライダーＯＯＯ（オー ズ）＆Ｗ（ダブル） MOVIE大戦2011, Kamen Raidā × Kamen Raidā Ōzu ando Daburu: Mūbī Taisen Nisenjūichi^?) and is planned for cinema release in December 2010.

Video game

A port of Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes titled Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes OOO (仮面ライダー クライマックスヒーローズ オーズ, Kamen Raidā Kuraimakkusu Hīrōzu Ōzu^?) is set for release on both the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Wii on November 25, 2010. In addition to adding Kamen Rider Ooz to the game, the previous Heisei Riders' most powerful forms are added as playable characters as well as other Heisei Kamen Riders not included in either of the two previous versions.^[10]
